Externship Program

Prospective Externs

Individuals interested in availing themselves of a 2-3 week exposure to this profession should contact the persons on the list below. These contacts, on your behalf, can apply for $1000.00 in funding from the American College of Laboratory Animal Medicine to support travel, lodging and education expenses. Externship experiences will vary by host institution, so we encourage you to shop for the program that best matches your interests.

Externship Applications and Guidelines for Diplomates

Guidelines, evaluation forms and an application form are available as a Word document.

If you're interested in hosting an extern, the completed application is due on September 11 each year.

AVMA Mentoring Program

ACLAM Diplomate mentor volunteers are available through the AVMA mentoring program. Diplomates are available to provide information for veterinary students wishing to explore a career in Laboratory Animal Medicine as well as for veterinarians seeking to qualify for board certification.
